Windows Phones 7 sales did not meet expectations says LG
It looks as though the number of Windows Phone 7 devices sold hasn’t impressed many manufacturers or carriers. When numbers were “sort of” released by Microsoft last month, we saw that there were approximately 1.5 million WP7 devices sold worldwide in 30 countries, to 60 different carriers, with 10 different Windows Phone 7 manufacturers. Not impressive at all really. LG is one of those manufacturers, and they had a chance to let the folks over at Pocket-Lint know what it’s been like marketing WP7 on LG devices. They’re voices have been changed and names altered, as well as faces blurred so as to not be recognized by Microsoft…we’re kidding.
James Choi, LG’s marketing Strategy and planning team Director, stated to Pocket-Lint the following;
m an industry perspective we had a high expectation, but from a consumer point of view the visibility is less than we expected…What we feel is that some people believe that some operating systems, mainly Google, are extremely complicated for them; but Windows Phone 7 is very intuitive and easy to use…for tech guys, [WP7] might be a little bit boring after a week or two, but there are certain segments that it really appeals to.
Essentially, LG isn’t happy with the low sales by comparison of WP7 devices, but says that there is hope as the software is intuitive and easy to use, and as such, will appeal to a large market segment…eventually.
