Well, it’s been fun PC (and Mac). But we need to move on now…

For the first time in our technological history, smartphones outsold PCs in the 4th quarter of 2010. Smartphone devices sold 100.9 million units from OEM’s and PCs only 92.1 units from OEM manufacturers. Smartphones increased by 87% year over year in sales, while PCs increased only by 5.5%. It’s only a matter of time for smartphones to catch PC at that rate.

As you can see, the most popular devices sold were from HTC, samsung, Apple, Research in Motion and Nokia. The data was provided by IDC, an Analytics firm, who had this published on ReadWriteWeb.
