• 16/06/2011

Dolby announced Wednesday that it will be suing Canada-based Research In Motion in the US and Germany for alleged patent infringement. The lawsuit explains that RIM did not obtain licenses for the audio compression technology used in the BlackBerry phones and PlayBook tablets. All other companies using the technology have followed licensing requirements outlined by Dolby.

According to the press release, “The lawsuits seek recovery of financial damages and injunctions to halt sales of the many RIM products that infringe Dolby‚Äôs patents.”
