94% of North Americans would use secure mobile payments

• 19/03/2011

Mobio Identity Systems, a payment solutions provider, did a recent survey which states that 94% of North Americans would be okay with using mobile payments as long as it was secure. The survey interviewed 1,085 people, and of the 94%, 73% said that security was the main concern, 12.4% said that it had to be easy, and 8.5% said it had to be fast.

This may be the reason that Apple isn’t going to be including NFC in its devices any time soon. For any firms looking to get into mobile payments though, security should be in place before anyone really wants to use it. We need that warm fuzzy feeling that it’s secure first.
