RIM has a new CMO after the departure of Keith Pardy back in March 2011, and it’s not a new face. Jim Balsillie will assume CMO duties and continue to remain in the co-CEO spot as well. That’s a lot of responsibility for one man to take over, especially since RIM looks to rejuvenate their business in the mobile market with a large set of new BlackBerry devices, which started 2011 with the release of the BlackBerry PlayBook, followed by the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900/9930 announced at BlackBerry World this week.

It would seem that Balsillie looks to single-handedly save Research in Motion in 2011, but lets not forget there are many others involved in making things right again for the Canadian mobile manufacturer. Still, this is a bold move Cotton.
