Leaked roadmap shows BlackBerry OS 7, BIS updates, more

• 08/03/2011

Enthusiast blog N4BB has obtained what it claims to be RIM’s software roadmap for the 2011 calendar year, and it seems pretty legit.

Probably the most exciting part of the leaked roadmap is the mention of BlackBerry OS 7, which appears to be slated for core integration this coming November.

Judging by the vacancies on the third quarter of the roadmap it does appear that RIM will be very focused on the next version of its OS in the second half of 2011.  How exciting!

Also expected are two BIS updates — one this month or next month (BIS 4.0), and a second due toward the end of summer (BIS 4.1).  This means that apps that have been desperate for some updates can finally get some love, like Twitter, Facebook, RIM’s Social Feeds app and so on.

We’ll keep you posted with more updates on the RIM/BlackBerry front.
