Space War HD is free on the Amazon Appstore for Android today only, where you’d normally pay a whole whopping $0.99. I know, I know…it’s a big difference. But, maybe a guy wants that $1 for a cup of Dunkin’ Coffee, so, he’ll grab it today when it’s free. The game was developed by Virtual GS and is rated 4/5 stars on the Android Market. It’s a retake on the classic arcade shooter games of old like Asteroids, 1942, Galaga, Defender, the list goes on and on. In this game, you’ll fly your starfighter through enemies and asteroids without crashing your ship. Touchscreen controls are the way to play this game by moving your finger across the screen and long pressing for rapid-fire weapons.
The game feels just like 1942 in respect to the gameplay, picking up weapon upgrades, different types of weapons and flying all over the screen to kill the enemy off. The only downside I really see if the color of the ship sort of blends in too much with the background, so it makes it a little difficult to see where your ship is at on the screen, especially when you have your finger on the screen most of the time to fly. On a smartphone, this makes it hard to see. On a Roboto would have made this much better, instead of dragging your finger to move the starfighter., it’s a little easier to see what’s going on. On screen touch ‘thumbsticks’ like in the game
