Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 case a design copy of the iPad’s Smart Cover – ‘What patent infringement lawsuit?’

Anymode samsung galaxy tab case

If you were Samsung, and battling Apple on several patent infringement lawsuits for copying things like the iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone, would you put out a case for your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 that mimics the Apple iPad 2 Smart Cover? (Even though the Apple iPad 2 Smart Cover is a copy of someone else’s design to begin with)The answer should be obvious, but we saw that a product from AnyMode made its way to a Samsung website as an accessory to the popular Galaxy Tab 10.1.

9to5mac reports that the maker of this smart cover case has strong ties to Samsung, the funny thing is that now Samsung has taken down the website showing the case for sale, citing it has not gone through official “Designed for Samsung Mobile” certification. LOL. The best part is, they only took it down after this story broke online as a replica of the iPad 2 Smart Cover, and was quick to point the finger at AnyMode saying they are “working with Anymode to address this oversight.” Good cover…I mean, good excuse Samsung.
