• 21/04/2011

Yes, the most powerful and thinnest smartphone in the world will actually be coming to Canada possibly sooner rather than later as we got word that Samsung has every intention of bringing it to the north. MobileSyrup had gotten a comment from Samsung regarding the timeframe for the Galaxy S II to come into Canada, this is what was said;

“During the Nexus S launch event this morning I had a quick conversation with Samsung VP Paul Brennan who stated the incredibly thin Android-powered Samsung Galaxy S II will be released in Canada. They are still working our the carrier details but he’s optimistic that it’ll launch either really late Q2, but more likely early Q3 time period (definitely in time for the back-to-school time).

The Samsung Galaxy S II has the following specs:

  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display
  • dual-core 1.2GHz processor (reputed to be the fastest yet)
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 8.49mm thin
  • only 116 grams
  • NFC capabilities
  • 8 megapixel camera with LED flash
  • 1080p HD video recording capable of recording video at 30fps
  • 2 megapixel front facing camera
  • WiFi

No specific launch date yet, or pricing, but no doubt we’ll get that soon enough!
