Motorola Atrix Hits AT&T March 6, $500 with Laptop Dock, $190 without

• 04/02/2011

When Motorola unveiled the shiny new Atrix at CES 2011 people weren’t unanimous in their support of the new Laptop Dock accessory for the smartphone.

Since then there have been rumors flying around about pricing for the Atrix and the laptop dock accessory.  Now the rumors can be dispelled because the official word is out from AT&T.

Alone, without any accessories like the Laptop Dock, the 1 GHZ dual-core Motorola Atrix will be $190 on a 2-year contract.

If you buy the Atrix with the Laptop Dock accessory you can expect to spend $500 after 2-year contract and a $100 mail-in rebate for the bundle.

If you just want the laptop, without the smartphone, you will end up paying the full $500.  Though, we’re really not sure why you’d want the ‘laptop dock’ without the smartphone to dock into it.

What’s not covered in the pricing is the cost of a tethering contract, which will be probably about $20/month extra.

Is it worth the cost?  Will the Atrix and the laptop dock live up to the hype?  I guess we’ll know soon enough.  They’ve released a ship date of March 6th, with pre-orders beginning on February 13th.

If anything, the Motorola Atrix gives options to AT&T customers at least.
