Leaked Dell roadmap shows unannounced smartphones, tablets

• 17/02/2011

It seems like there’s quite the leaky faucet over at Dell today as an internal product roadmap illustrates timelines of new product releases throughout the remainder of 2011 and into Q1 of 2012 – many of which we’ve never heard rumor of till now.

Take a look at the roadmap graphics below and you’ll see at least 3 new smartphones and 6 Tablet devices listed.

The New Dell Smartphones

The Wrigley for instance is listed as a Windows 7 Next Gen device which boasts a 1GHz processor, 4-inch WVGA display, 8-megapixel camera, and the ability to record 720p HD video.  Judging by where Wrigley lands on the roadmap, we can expect this bad-boy to hit stores in or around July 2011.

Next, meet Hancock, the Android Ice Cream device with a dual-core processor, a 4-inch 960 x 640-pixel display, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and 1080p HD video recording.  You can expect a taste of this device in September, or there-abouts.

Last, we are introduced to the Millennium, which should launch around October.  Like Hancock, this device sports the Android Ice Cream OS, a dual-core processor, and an 8-megapixel rear camera, but has a slightly bigger 4.3-inch 640 x 960-pixel display, a VGA front camera, DLNA and 1080p HD video capture.

The New Dell Tablets

First up on the Tablet roadmap that is new to us is the Gallo.  Expected to surface around April, the Gallo Tablet is an Android Honeycomb based device that seems to already have an update planned for October to include handwriting recognition, which leaves us speculating about a possible near-future Android announcement about this as a new flagship feature.

Next up, in May/June, is the Rosemount, a Windows 7 Tablet with a 1366 x 768-pixel display.

Fast-forward to Q1 of 2012 and two more Honeycomb tablets called the Opus One and Silver Oak are slated for release.  Also due in the first quarter next year is the Peju, a Windows 8 Tablet.

So there you have it.  The leaked goods from Dell for the next 13 months or so.  While one never knows how reliable these leaked documents and images can be, we hear the guy is pretty reliable.

I am sure we can expect to hear more about the official names of these devices and concrete release dates as the months progress.  As always, MobileAttack.com will keep you posted on breaking news in the mobile world.
