JP Morgan – Tablet Market predicted to hit $35 billion in 2012

• 01/03/2011

The Tablet market is about to explode, and we don’t doubt that for a second. JP Morgan had originally stated its 2011 revenue forecast for tablets would be $24.9 billion and $34.1 billion in 2012. We now are hearing from JP Morgan that they have changed their estimates to $26.1 billion in 2011 and $35.2 billion in 2012, pushing 79.6 million units.

The other piece of information that may be a scare for any PC manufacturers out there is that the increase in Tablet market share will actually eat about 35% of the current PC sales market by 2012. This is what JP Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz had originally said;

We expect tablets to have an increasingly negative impact on PC shipments, More than 35 percent of tablets sold in 2012 will be cannibalistic, particularly as relates to netbooks and notebooks.

If I were Gateway computers, I’d build a nice Tablet right now!
