Google buying Motorola Mobility – slaps Apple and Microsoft in the face.

• 16/08/2011

The patent and hardware wars in the smartphone and Tablet markets just got much more complicated as Google has publicly announced its intentions on buying Motorola Mobility.

Motorola Mobility houses over 20,000 patents both e listing and pending, which will give Google the much needed advantage and protection against Apple and Microsoft who both seem bent on suing anyone who uses a touchscreen. This may mean some poor response from current Android manufacturers such as Samsung and HTC, but it will help protect them all in the long run with Android use.

Bold move Google. The price to buy is $12.5 billion, which is about 25% of Google’s piggy bank.
