Apple iOS userbase is 59% higher than Android in US market – comScore reports

Just when you thought that Android was going to squash Apple’s iOS for most used operating system in the US, think again. In a report by comScore, an analytics company, Apple has a 59% greater userbase for iOS than Android. To break the numbers down, Apple has a total 16.2% market hold in the total US mobile device market, and Android 10.2% out of 234 million media devices in the US.

ComScore states the following numbers;

analysis of the unduplicated audience reach of the Apple iOS platform across iPads, iPhones and iPod Touches revealed a combined iOS installed base of 37.9 million users…The combined 37.9 million iOS users is 59 percent greater than the 23.8 million combined Android OS installed base, which includes users of both Android phones and connected media devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
