Apple adds products to lawsuit against Samsung

• 18/06/2011

Adding to the ongoing saga of the lawsuit Apple has filed against Samsung, they have expanded their original list of alleged copycat products. Added to the ones initially listed (Galaxy S, Nexus S, Epic 4G, Galaxy Tab products, and a few others) are the DROID Charge, Exhibit 4G, Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Prevail, Galaxy S, Gravity, Infuse 4G, Nexus S 4G, Replenish, Galaxy Tab 10.1, and the Galaxy S II.

Apple is arguing that the above mentioned products “blatantly imitate the appearance of Apple’s products to capitalize on Apple’s success.”

They further argue:

“Apple’s introduction of the first iPhone product, no other company was offering a phone with these features. Prior mobile phones were often bulkier and contained physical keypads. Some had a rocker-style navigation button and sets of buttons for numbers and calling features. Others had a front panel with a partial or full QWERTY keyboard and a screen. None had the clean lines of the iPhone, which immediately caused it to stand apart from the competition.”

Samsung had responded to the initial lawsuit back in April, and according to Apple had been “harassing” them (this comment made just days before Apple amended the list of products), so it will be interesting to see what comes out of this. It feels a bit like high school drama doesn’t it?
