Android too geeky for ‘pretty girls’, says INQ CEO

• 19/02/2011

Pretty girls buy pretty phones and Android just ain’t pretty enough.  That’s the essence of what INQ CEO Frank Meehan said.

“If you go to a nightclub in any city in the world, the pretty girl has an iPhone or a BlackBerry. She doesn’t have an Android phone. She has no emotional attachment to an Android phone. It’s too complicated. It’s a geek device, it’s all wrong.”

Sexism and condescension aside, Meehan does have a tiny point.  (And coming from a girl … possibly a pretty one, that’s got to mean something, right?)  Take a look around the next time you go out and you’ll see his point.  The girls on the dance floor are using a BlackBerry or iPhone.  And he’s right, Android phones are geek devices.

Still, you’d think a CEO of a company that creates Android handsets would find a way to market these ‘complicated’ ‘geek device[s]‘ in a clever enough way to the pretty girls in the world.  After all, pretty girls spend money too – like, usually their daddy’s money.
