android market rents movies

At Google I/O 2011 earlier today, during the Android segment, Google announced that¬†the¬†Android Market would start renting movies to users for streaming to their PC, smartphone or Tablet devices. The movies available are some of the same that were announced with the 3,000+ movies added to youtube’s movie rental spot online.

The movie rental feature allows something called “pinning”, which enables you to download the movie for viewing offline. The rental is good for 30 days, or 24 hours after you’ve started watching the movie. This new segment of the Android Market will be available to Android 3.1 updated devices, and to Android 2.2 + devices in a couple weeks time.
