Android launches in-app billing next week

• 25/03/2011

Google announced on Friday that Android developers could start populating their apps with in-app content for purchasing as they start to roll out in-app billing next week. This will allow users of Android apps to make purchases for additional content directly from within the app itself, rather than having to go through the Android Market again, thus giving a faster, smoother purchase experience which should increase developer revenue.

The Android Market has seen several changes over the last few months to help encourage more revenue for developers, which is a bigger attraction for more apps to get developed and released. Android Market growth is increasing at a crazy rate, but revenue for paid apps isn’t seeing the same increases. In-App billing is another step in the right direction.
