Amazon AppStore for Android – buy apps before you have a phone

• 20/02/2011

So let’s say you don’t have a sweet new Android device just yet, but you plan on buying one just as soon as your carrier actually puts it on for a reasonable price (you may wait a while). You don’t need to wait until you have an Android phone for you to get apps ready for when you do get one with Amazon’s AppStore for Android.

Create an account, and start surfing the available apps. It’ll remember what you’ve bought, similar to the way the Android Market works now as well. The AppStore model here closely resembles the way Amazon’s Kindle store works as well, letting you stock up regardless of what device you have.

It may affect Android Market sales, but we don’t think Google is overly worried about that…not like Apple.
